Detailed Description
Salafism Reconsidered
By Surkheel Sharif
A thoughtful and scholarly reassessment of contemporary Salafism through the lens of classical Sunni orthodoxy.
What does it truly mean to follow the salaf—the pious predecessors of Islam? And does contemporary Salafism faithfully reflect their legacy?
Drawing upon decades of study, lived experience, and engagement within Salafi circles, Salafism Reconsidered examines some of the most important theological and methodological questions facing Muslims today. Rather than dismissing the call to follow the salaf, the book invites readers to reconsider whether many contemporary Salafi positions align with the consensus (ijma') and inherited tradition of classical Sunni scholarship.
With balance, sincerity, and academic rigour, Surkheel Sharif revisits issues that have shaped modern Islamic discourse, encouraging readers to move beyond polemics towards a more principled, rooted, and spiritually enriching understanding of Sunni orthodoxy.
