ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr (22–94 AH / 642–712 CE)
One of the Seven Great Jurists of Madīnah, ʿUrwah studied extensively under Lady ʿĀʾishah رضي الله عنها until, in her words, he had exhausted her knowledge. His student al-Zuhrī described him as “an ocean that could not be exhausted.”
He pioneered the writing of the Prophet’s ﷺ biography, laying the foundations for Islamic historiography.
