Course Details
In an age where Muslims are struggling to anchor themselves spiritually, politically and societally, it is more important than ever before to look to our forerunners for guidance. There were 5 incredible men who carried the mantle of Islamic leadership after the demise of the Prophet ﷺ, each of them facing their own unique set of challenges, but also setting down guidance that Muslims would be able to take from in their own times of tribulation.
One of the most concise, but also historically thorough, books on this subject is ‘The History of the Four Caliphs’ by the late Ottoman scholar, Shaykh Khudarī Bak al-Bājūrī. This book’s unique features, according to Mufti Abdul Rahman Mangera is:
- 1. The straightforward and clear narrative it provides of the event of the Rightly-Guided Caliphate.
- 2. The delicate balance he strikes in navigating some of the more difficult events in that period, maintaining the sanctity of the Companions, but also remaining true to the details.
